About Me

From a very young age, I felt that I was called to this profession. I earned my Bachelor’s in Psychology from Ohio University and my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Ohio State University. I have worked in a variety of settings, including a day treatment center for individuals struggling with eating disorders, an intensive outpatient treatment center for individuals struggling with substance abuse, as well as private practice settings, where I have worked with a wide range of presenting concerns.

I consider myself to be a laid back, empowering, humorous, and deeply empathetic person. I enjoy taking a curious approach to my client’s presenting concerns. One of the most important parts of my process is to make my clients feel comfortable and at ease.

It is the joy of my life to walk alongside clients who are struggling with hopelessness and helplessness. I find it to be the highest privilege to explore the deepest and most vulnerable parts of my clients’ inner worlds.

In my free time, I enjoy traveling, going to concerts, reading, and exploring local hangouts with my Australian Shepherd, whose name is Percy.

Approaches

I enjoy incorporating humor into my approach and always strive to make my clients feel comfortable. I believe that an authentic and deep connection is fundamental to the therapeutic relationship and ultimately reaching my clients' goals. I operate from a range of therapeutic approaches depending on the needs of my clients, and I always draw on their strengths.

I utilize an eclectic approach in my therapeutic process, which means that I draw on many different theoretical orientations. I consider myself to be a person-centered, trauma-informed, strengths-based, compassion-focused, culturally-sensitive practitioner, no matter what specific theoretical orientation I may be operating under given specific client goals and concerns.

I am well-versed in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), Feminist Therapy, and Humanism.
